I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
- The Apostles' Creed (first century)
The Bible contains two accounts of creation, the first being Genesis 1:1 - 2:4 and the second being the balance of Genesis ch. 2. The first account closely references the seven days of creation, while the second account puts the care of creation into the hands of man.
The two accounts are contradictory. For example, God creates animal then man in the first account. This order is reversed in the second account. Does this mean that the Bible is false? No. Does this mean that God did not create the heavens and the earth? No.
I believe that we should emphasize that God created the heavens and the earth, and not focus on the manner in which he created is not important. It is possible too that the epochs in the evolutionary timeline are simply Biblical days (the long-day theory). Recognizing God as Creator and recognizing God's glory in creation is paramount.
God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars.
